Consider me jaded, but why all this money from people who have better fire protection than anyone in the western and southern areas of the City? Why does a smart man like Chris Larsen want this boondoggle so badly?
Just asked a longtime resident this. Their answer: They (the billionaires) have the money, now they want power (influencing elections, etc.).
I personally would not call any of these billionaires so smart. If they were, they’d realize that they’re literally setting people up—including all the new young AI families who have flooded the Outer Sunset and are so delighted to be remodeling their new homes and vibing next to the beach—to die in a massive fire. #firevibes
100% agreement, they have a huge blind spot on that. Also agree they are not that smart to attempt to gentrify the western (and southern) neighborhoods but also concurrently double-down on their most-egregious mistreatment of the “County-folk” neighborhoods. They are mixing up considerations of their own “us” vs. their own “them.” How will they punish the “others” and reward their own if they blur the lines so much?
Because the Mayor needs the $200 million for Muni and the powers that be at PUC and City Hall need the ESER grift to continue so they can do their pet projects, etc? Run the reservoir dry and somebody might uncover things down there in the muck.
