Manifesting Destiny
La loca vida en La Playa Redux -- P.S. Vote NO on Prop. A -- Equal Fire Protection for All
[author’s note — I want every one of my readers to understand that I do not have an inflated opinion of myself. I do what I do and say what I say, not because I think that everyone is sitting at the edge of their seat waiting to hear what John Crabtree think. No, I do and say those things in the way that I do them and say them because I have a Jeffersonian inalienable right to.
I expect to, most often, be ignored by those in corridors of power. But real people listen, especially the ones that I care about. Sometimes my essays are read by 400 people, sometimes they are read by 4,000 people — one time it was four times that — so, I guess, those pundits, power-brokers and masters of puppets underestimate me (and us) at times, lol.
The remainder of this essay and update are about small developments that happened after something that I wrote was published and circulating out there. Some people will tell me (some have already) that is coincidence, and perhaps they are correct (although I do not believe in coincidences). My sister tells me that if I do the work right that perhaps I can manifest the outcomes that I want to see. I am not certain that I have robust faith in that either, sorry Laura. Whatever the truth of those matters, when I write about something that should happen and that we should all work toward and then they happen, start happening or when we make progress, I am going to let you all know. I leave it to others regarding the how and why of it… john]
La loca vida en La Playa
The day after I published this story about how SFMTA and DPW haven’t swept the sand off of La Playa between Lincoln and Irving on even a remotely regular basis over the last 8 months, low and behold, yesterday the street sweeper was out on this very stretch of La Playa along with a payloader and a small crew of workers clearing sand out of the intersection of La Playa and Lincoln as well as the surrounding sidewalks and parking lot.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc
After it therefore because of it; that’s what that Latin phrase means, which is not often the true case. I make no claim in the matter, but wanted you all to know that something started happening.
The job is not done, of course. The windblown sand will return. SFMTA & DPW still need to establish a regular street sweeping schedule (preferably not midnight to 6:00 a.m. and they need to put up signs again. Plus there is a lot of built up sand just about everywhere. Lot’s of time to still weigh in with Supervisor Wong and his office as well as SFMTA, DPW and their commissions and citizen advisory committees.
As I have said before, we should never count on manifestation, nor on the kindness, consideration and decency of those operating in offices and corridors of power. In the Judeo Christian tradition, we’re taught that God backs those who back themselves.
I know I’m going to make a few more calls and send a few more emails.

Just one other manifestation development to share from earlier today. Just this morning SF Inspector General Alex Shepard is now confirmed as a participant for the next Coalition for San Francisco Neighborhoods (CSFN). This one is all attributable to Deborah Murphy at CSFN. I don’t know if she practices manifestation or not.
Alex Shepard is confirmed as a speaker at the next CSFN meeting
